Felt Beads

These felt beads are so quick and easy to make.

With three size options the creative possibilities are endless. Why not make a necklace and matching bracelet?


Felted Size Small 20cm (0.8”) diameter

 Medium 30cm (1.2”) diameter

 Large 35cm  (1.4”) diameter


Knitting needles  8mm (UK 0 /US 11)


tension - 11sts x 16 rows = 10cm (4”) st.st. square


Knitted using 1 strand of Worsted / 10 ply  pure

wool – Handwash yarn.


Recommended yarn:-  Grundl Filzwolle Uni felting yarn


Yardage

50g (50m) ball Grundl filzwolle makes approximately 33 small, 15 medium or 8 large beads.

Small  1g (1m, 1yds)

Medium 3g (3m, 3yds)

Large  6g (6m, 6yds)

Abbreviations

k1row= knit one row

p1row = purl one row

kfb = make a stitch by knitting into the front and then into the back of the same stitch.

k2tog = Knit the next 2 stitches together


Pattern

Small Beads

Cast on 3sts leave a 15cm tail

kfb every stitch (=6sts)

p1 row

*k2tog x 3 (=3sts)

Cut wool leaving a 25cm tail.

Thread the tail through the remaining 3sts on the needle.


Medium Beads

Cast on 3st

kfb every st (=6sts)

kfb every st (=12sts)

*k2tog x 6 (=6sts)

p1row

*k2tog x 3(=3sts)

Cut wool leaving a 25cm tail.

Thread the tail through the remaining 3sts on the needle.
